
National Security Clearance Specialist

The role of National Security Clearance Specialist is a vital component of the Queensland Police Service's efforts to ensure personnel are eligible and suitable for Australian Government resources and National Security Information.
This position involves collaborating with stakeholders to support organisational change and key projects and initiatives, promoting effective security practices and procedures throughout the organisation.
Your Key Responsibilities- Assist in policy development and amendments related to National Security Clearances, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Conduct National Security Clearance interviews as directed, managing Security Incident reporting and providing quality assurance on completed assessments.
- Mentor and coordinate Regional Vetting Officers state-wide, ensuring consistency and accuracy in National Security Clearance processes.
- Participate in project teams involved in counter-terrorism planning, development, implementation, review and evaluation, applying expertise in security and risk management.
- Undertake research, provide advice and assist in documentation related to Security and Counter-Terrorism Command project activities, contributing to strategic decision-making.
- Support Prepare, Prevent, Protect Group functions through administrative and organisational support, enhancing overall operational effectiveness.
- Liaise, consult and negotiate with stakeholders, dealing with sensitive/classified information appropriately, maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
- Contribute to State Police Operations Centre (SPOC) functions where required, integrating security expertise into broader operational strategies.
- Represent Queensland Police Service at selected forums, promoting the organisation's values and objectives.
Mandatory
- A national security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 2 must be obtained and maintained, demonstrating commitment to security and integrity.
Qualification
- Diploma of Government Security or Certificate IV Government Security (Personnel Vetting) highly regarded, showcasing expertise in security principles and practices.
- Further development and training to obtain industry qualifications for this role will be undertaken, ensuring continuous learning and professional growth.
Technical/Operational/Educational experience
- Minimum 12 months in a similar position highly regarded, highlighting relevance and applicability of skills and knowledge.
