National Security Specialist

This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the National Security Assessment Capability by granting National Security Clearances, ensuring personnel meet eligibility and suitability requirements to access Australian Government resources and information.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to policy development and amendments related to National Security Clearance and Vetting.
- Facilitate interviews and manage Security Incident reporting, including aftercare and risk assessments.
- Mentor Regional Vetting Officers across the state, ensuring quality assurance on National Security Clearances.
- Participate in project teams designing counter-terrorism initiatives.
- Undertake research, provide expert advice, and assist with documentation preparation.
- Liaise with stakeholders, handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Support the Prepare, Prevent, Protect Group and contribute to State Police Operations Centre functions.
- Represent the organization at selected forums.
- Able to obtain and maintain a national security clearance (Negative Vetting Level 2).
- Diploma of Government Security or Certificate IV Government Security (Personnel Vetting) is highly regarded.
- Willingness to undertake further development and training is essential.
- Minimum 12 months in a similar position is highly regarded.
- Honesty, trustworthiness, maturity, tolerance, resilience, loyalty are required traits.
