Job Overview

The Senior Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer plays a pivotal role in determining the scope and cost estimates for control systems aspects of a project.

This position involves leading the design, development, modification, and evaluation of control systems components and processes. The engineer must resolve complex technical issues and ensure that unique requirements of a project's control systems aspects are met.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Plans and conducts independent work on control systems requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of control systems engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.
  • Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant engineering department procedures, design standards, and guides, and standard application programs.
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to senior management.
  • Develops conceptual designs for control systems engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
  • Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs, and schedules.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
  • Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
  • Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of control systems aspects of the work.
  • Conducts or leads special studies of new control systems engineering methods, materials, and techniques.
  • Mentors control systems engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development. Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.
