About the Role

The Director of Governance, Audit, Risk, and Legal is a critical leadership position at Fire & Rescue NSW, responsible for overseeing the strategic governance, audit, risk, and legal functions of the organization.

This role requires a seasoned governance and legal leader who can motivate a team to deliver a diverse governance and legal service with a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the delivery of FRNSW's strategic governance, audit, risk, and legal functions.
  • Proactively enhance good governance practices, identifying and remediating risk and strategic issues.
  • Develop and maintain regulatory compliance, ensuring the organization's policies and procedures are optimized for outcomes.
  • Lead a diverse team of governance and legal specialists in a dynamic emergency services environment.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience at a senior level, preferably within the public sector or comparable complex organization.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate relationships with finesse.
