As one of the leading producers of iron ore and steel in China, Karara operates a significant mining site located 200km southeast of Geraldton, Western Australia. Position Overview

We are currently in search of a qualified and skilled Electrician to become a vital part of our Port Operations team stationed at the Geraldton Karara Export Terminal.

In this role, reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor, you will be tasked with ensuring that all operational standards are upheld in terms of efficiency, quality, and safety.

This position follows a Sportsman style roster: 2 days, 2 nights on 5 days off / 2 days, 3 nights on 4 days off / 3 days, 2 nights on 5 days off.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Grade Electrical Licence
  • HV Switching and/or Instrumentation qualifications (preferred)
  • Experience with PLC and SCADA systems, particularly with Allen Bradley and GE packages (preferred)
  • Valid WA 'C' class Drivers Licence
  • WA High Risk Work Licences (DG Dogging/RB Basic Rigging/WP Elevated Work Platform)
  • Proven knowledge and experience in port operations and process plant equipment
  • Prior experience in a similar capacity within the mining or resource sector
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Australian Citizenship or a valid work visa
  • National Police clearance is necessary for obtaining MSIC

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned tasks for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • Ensure all work adheres to the specifications and quality standards set by equipment manufacturers
  • Monitor, assess, communicate, and report any identified issues or risks in the workplace
  • Share technical expertise and knowledge within the team
  • Enhance and refine job procedures for various maintenance activities
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Engage in development activities to broaden competency
  • Participate in scheduled training as part of the development plan
  • Contribute to the identification, development, and execution of relevant continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist in the development, coaching, and mentoring of apprentices, contractors, and team members
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders at Karara
