Position Overview

We are currently in search of a qualified and seasoned Electrician to enhance our Port Operations division at the Geraldton Karara Export Terminal.

In this role, reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor, you will be tasked with ensuring that all operational standards are upheld, focusing on efficiency, quality, and safety.

This position follows a Sportsman style roster: 2 days, 2 nights on 5 days off / 2 days, 3 nights on 4 days off / 3 days, 2 nights on 5 days off.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A Grade Electrical Licence
  • HV Switching and/or Instrumentation qualifications (preferred)
  • Experience with PLC and SCADA systems, particularly Allen Bradley and GE packages (preferred)
  • Valid WA 'C' class Drivers Licence
  • High Risk Work Licences (DG Dogging/RB Basic Rigging/WP Elevated Work Platform)
  • Proven knowledge and experience in port operations and process plant equipment
  • Prior experience in a similar capacity within the mining/resource sector
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
  • Australian Citizenship or a valid work visa
  • National Police clearance is required for MSIC eligibility

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned tasks for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • Adhere to specifications and quality standards set by equipment manufacturers
  • Monitor, assess, communicate, and report any identified issues or risks in the workplace
  • Share technical expertise and knowledge within the team
  • Develop and refine job procedures for various maintenance activities
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Engage in professional development activities to broaden skill sets
  • Participate in scheduled training as part of the development plan
  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of relevant continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of apprentices, contractors, and team members
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders

About Karara Mining

Situated 200 km southeast of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia, Karara boasts an anticipated mine life exceeding 30 years. The operation encompasses a large open-pit mine, a sophisticated ore processing and beneficiation plant, and extensive infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of its logistics framework, Karara operates an 80km railway connecting Tilley Junction to the mine site, facilitating the export of up to 16 Mtpa of product from a dedicated berth.
