Position Overview

We are in search of a qualified and seasoned Mechanical Fitter to enhance our Operations team stationed at the Geraldton Karara Export Terminal. Reporting directly to the Operations Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all operational demands are fulfilled in accordance with site standards of efficiency, quality, and safety.

This role is classified as residential and operates on a Sportsman style 2 days, 2 nights on 5 days off / 2 days, 3 nights on 4 days off / 3 days, 2 nights on 5 days off roster.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification
  • WA 'C' Class Drivers' License
  • Certifications - Dogging (DG), Basic Rigging (RB), Elevated Work Platform (WP)
  • Confined Space Entry & Working at Heights Certification
  • Proven knowledge and experience in port operations and process plant equipment, including conveyors, car dumpers, automated mobile equipment, and ship loaders
  • Prior experience in a similar capacity within the marine, mining, or resource sectors
  • Australian Citizenship or valid visa with work authorization
  • National Police clearance is necessary for obtaining MSIC

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must either reside in the Geraldton area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute assigned tasks for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, adhering to the specifications and quality standards set by equipment manufacturers
  • Coordinate operations from the Central Control Room (CCR) for automated train unloading, cargo stockpiling, and ship loading
  • Oversee shipment sample station operations
  • Implement scheduled preventative maintenance work orders within the KET's Scheduled Maintenance System
  • Plan daily work tasks effectively to align with Train and Shipping Schedules
  • Exhibit and promote personal safety leadership by conducting all work in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in identifying continuous improvement opportunities regarding processes and procedures
  • Foster a positive work culture by engaging proactively with the company's safety initiatives and aligning personal behaviors with Karara's Values and Life Saving Commitments

About Karara Mining

Situated 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia, Karara boasts an anticipated mine life exceeding 30 years. The operation encompasses a large open pit mine, a sophisticated ore processing and beneficiation plant, along with extensive infrastructure and logistics networks. Karara owns and operates 80km of railway connecting Tilley Junction to the Karara mine site, facilitating the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, capable of handling up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, supported by associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
