Job Title:

Solar Integration Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Solar Integration Specialist to manage the technical and commercial aspects of connecting renewable energy projects to Australia's electricity transmission and distribution networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage grid connection applications and approval processes for large-scale solar energy projects across the NEM
  • Coordinate with TNSPs and DNSPs on connection requirements
  • Develop connection strategies and technical solutions for solar energy projects
  • Manage grid connection studies including system impact studies, network modelling, and protection coordination
  • Oversee connection agreement negotiations and technical requirements compliance
  • Coordinate with project development teams on site selection, layout optimisation, and grid connection feasibility
  • Manage relationships with AEMO, network operators, and regulatory authorities on connection matters
  • Supervise the design and construction of transmission line connections and substation infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, technical standards, and connection requirements
  • Manage grid connection budgets and timelines
  • Support due diligence processes for project financing and investment decisions
  • Coordinate commissioning activities and grid energisation processes

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in solar integration, electrical network engineering, or renewable energy project development
  • Strong understanding of transmission and distribution network systems, grid codes, and technical standards
  • Experience managing grid connection processes with TNSPs, DNSPs, and AEMO
  • Knowledge of solar energy technologies including photovoltaic systems and solar inverters
  • Experience with power system studies, network modelling, and electrical design
  • Project management skills with experience managing complex technical projects and timelines
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Electrical Engineering degree or related technical qualification
  • Understanding of Australian electricity market structure and regulatory framework
  • Experience with grid connection agreements, technical specifications, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent grid connection projects
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of project development economics
