Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Surface Preparation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our workshop, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the durability and protection of our equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough surface preparation on steel or hard composition objects, achieving specified finishes and removal of all contamination.
  • Apply coatings using spraying or brushing techniques, adhering to required standards.
  • Review painting specifications and comply with relevant regulations.
  • Blast to profile tolerances and specifications.
  • Take precise measurements when measuring blast profiles.
  • Maintain accurate records of coating thickness, including DFTs, paint reports, and salt testing.
  • Manage inventory of materials, including paints and consumables, and notify supervisors of any shortages.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of machines and equipment.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to apprentices and trades assistants.
Requirements:
  • Local residency in the Southwest region.
  • Australian Recognised Trade Certificate in Surface Preparation or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Valid Driver's Licence.
  • Work at Heights & Confined Space Tickets.
  • Dogging/Rigging certification (preferred).
  • Forklift Ticket (preferred).
  • Physical fitness for manual labour and ability to pass drug and alcohol screening.
  • Strong commitment to safety and reliable work ethic.
