Job Opportunity: Water Treatment Plant Mechanic
The position entails participating in daily operations, maintenance, and housekeeping of water treatment facilities.
Key responsibilities include operating pumps, motors, and equipment; conducting laboratory tests; and performing mechanical repairs on various equipment.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Additional requirements based on the class of operator/maintenance person desired: TPO Class A/Mechanic: 5 years of experience in a water treatment facility, plus 2 years of experience in industrial mechanical equipment repair; TPO Class B/Mechanic: 3 years of experience in a water treatment facility, plus 2 years of experience in industrial mechanical equipment repair; TPO Class C/Mechanic: 1 year of experience in a water treatment facility, plus 2 years of experience in industrial mechanical equipment repair.
- College or technical coursework in science or treatment plant operations is preferred.
Special Requirements:
- A valid Florida Driver's license and active Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Class A, Class B, or Class C Drinking Water Operator's license are required.
- Ability to wear and utilize personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection, is necessary.
- Physical ability to work planned and unplanned overtime, standby, and call-out duties is essential.
