Job Title:

Water Treatment Plant Operator/Mechanic

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of water treatment processes, equipment operation, and maintenance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment plant equipment, performing routine laboratory tests, and conducting mechanical repairs on tanks, pumps, and other equipment.

In addition to technical skills, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The selected candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a valid Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Class A, B, or C Drinking Water Operator's license, as well as complete an OSHA-compliant forklift operator training course.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain water treatment plant equipment, including pumps, motors, and chemical feed systems.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including chlorine residual tests, and use judgment to set parameters for the water treatment process.
  • Conduct mechanical repairs on tanks, pumps, and other equipment, including lime and chemical feed equipment, grit removal systems, and sludge dewatering equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of water quality, treatment process, and equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations and resolve issues promptly.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
