Job Description:

Treatment plant operators are responsible for the operation, maintenance, and housekeeping of water treatment facilities. They work with a variety of equipment including pumps, motors, and laboratory instruments to ensure that the water is safe for public consumption.

The job requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team. It also requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Treatment plant operators must be able to lift 50 pounds or more, stand for long periods, and work in hot and humid environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operate and maintain water treatment equipment, including pumps, motors, and laboratory instruments.
  2. Perform routine laboratory tests, including chlorine residual tests.
  3. Calibrate and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  4. Work collaboratively with other teams to achieve departmental goals.
  5. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry developments.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Five (5) years [10,400 hours] of documented hands-on experience working on-site in a water treatment facility PLUS two (2) years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance of industrial mechanical equipment.
  • Class A, Class B, or Class C Drinking Water Operator's license required.
  • Valid Florida Driver's license required.
