About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in Western Melbourne. As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will play a critical role in delivering best-practice, person-centered support to individuals who use challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver PBS practices and interventions that are compliant with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards, NDIS Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support Rules 2018, Services Agreement and Everyday Independence's Code of Conduct.
  • Use research evidence and professional reasoning to recommend the most appropriate PBS therapy strategies, duration, location, and timing.
  • Identify and develop efficient processes and systems within the delivery of PBS services.
  • Develop effective and strong working alliances with individuals and their families to identify factors affecting a working alliance, and repair breakdowns in a timely way.
  • Enhance the capacity of individuals to make their own life choices and increase their independence.
  • Approach risk in a positive way to achieve quality of life outcomes, whilst ensuring that safeguards are in place to maximise the rights of individuals and protect the most vulnerable.
What You'll Need
  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience working as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.
  • AHPRA registration (for Occupational Therapists and Mental Health Nurses), full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (for Social Workers), or current membership with DEAI (for Developmental Educators).
  • Deemed suitability or willingness to obtain suitability as a Behaviour Support Practitioner by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
  • Passion for allied health and a strong advocacy for removing barriers using the social model of therapy.
  • Empathy and understanding, while being open and non-judgmental.
  • Driven to see high-impact outcomes in individuals' lives.
  • Ability to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children's Check.
  • Valid driver's license.
