About the Role

The Finance Business Partner will provide expert advice and support to System Leaders to build capability in Financial Management. This role will facilitate a robust, financially viable system of Catholic Schools, critical to enable us to meet school and system objectives and resource stewardship obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice, guidance, and support to System Leaders to build capability in Financial Management, facilitate the annual budget process, and forecast school and system financial performance to budget.
  • Monitor school income and expenditure, identifying variances, and work with School Principals to implement corrective actions and provide relevant commentary for key variances.
  • Reporting and analysis of school performance against financial performance indicators and benchmarks.
  • Provide School Principals with insights and recommendations to enhance Financial Viability, and devise and implement strategies to enhance performance and organisational outcomes.
  • Develop, document, and communicate operational processes to School Principals and key School staff of CSBB.
  • Supporting School Staff with timely, accurate and decision-ready financial and resourcing information.
  • Ensure month end and year end accounting close processes for schools are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Prepare management reports as required.
  • Ensure CSBB meets financial accountabilities and compliance requirements of Government and regulatory bodies by ensuring system policies, procedures and guidelines are compliant and be evidenced in practice.
  • Support compliance and accountability activities and data collections.
  • Build and maintain positive, effective working relationships with School Principals, Key School Staff and CSBB colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members within the Financial Management Workstream, contribute where required and share knowledge within the team.
  • Maintain the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality about all aspects of the work.

About You

The ideal candidate will meet the following key requirements:

  • Clear communicator and able to hold a concise conversation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team and share knowledge.
  • Analytical, with good judgement, demonstrating logical decision making.
  • An ability to prioritise, plan, multi-task and manage time effectively, with an ability to work independently.
  • Mindset of Continual improvement, excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • 5+ years' work experience in financial or management accounting including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, analysis and accounting principles/standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in a relational financial accounting role, partnering with non-financial stakeholders to build financial management capabilities.
  • Degree in Business/Finance/Commerce with a Major in Accounting.
  • Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
  • Current NSW driver's license, own car and a willingness to travel to schools.
  • Valid Working with Children Check for paid employment purpose.
