Comprehensive Aboriginal Health Care Specialist

As a culturally responsive and skilled health care specialist, you will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality Indigenous Primary Health Care services.

This role requires an experienced practitioner who can develop comprehensive healthcare plans for Aboriginal people in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. You will also engage with community members to strengthen their involvement in health service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop case management and healthcare plans for Aboriginal people in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Engage with community members to promote cultural awareness and improve health outcomes.
  • Provide cultural support and supervision to other health professionals to enhance their cultural competence and responsiveness.
  • Support the development of competent practitioners through mentoring and clinical supervision.
  • Deliver health education and promotion programs in partnership with other health professionals.
  • Maintain high-quality, safe services and workplaces by adhering to defined service quality standards and work health and safety policies.

Requirements:

  • Strong local cultural knowledge and exercise cultural respect and safety at the individual and family levels.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide cultural awareness training to non-local health staff.
  • Be registered with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice Board of Australia with no conditions.
  • Hold a Diploma in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practice or equivalent qualification, along with evidence of continuous professional development activities.
