Neonatal Medical Specialist Opportunity in a Quaternary Perinatal Centre

Mater Misericordiae Ltd's Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is seeking an experienced Neonatal Fellow or Senior Registrar to join our team as a key clinical and leadership figure. This full-time position is available for 12 months, commencing in February 2025.
Company OverviewMater Mothers' Hospital, part of Mater Misericordiae Ltd, is Australia's largest maternity hospital, caring for over 11,000 births annually. Our Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is one of the country's largest neonatal units, providing comprehensive services including pre and post-operative surgical care, sub-specialty liaison, and pre-operative cardiac care.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with and assist the Director of Neonatology in delivering comprehensive neonatal services to Mater Mothers' Hospital
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to provide family-centred developmental care to babies in the NCCU and other areas of the organisation
- Practice evidence-based neonatology under the supervision of a neonatologist
- Participate in ward rounds, attend neonatal outpatient clinics, and respond to high-risk deliveries and emergencies
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients
- Supervise registrars and resident medical officers working in the NCCU
- Provide education, clinical teaching, and mentoring for staff within Mater Health
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Registration as a medical practitioner without conditions with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Completion of fellowship training in neonatal perinatal medicine or general paediatrics with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent
- Experience in providing evidence-based family-centred neonatal care
- Tertiary level registrar experience in perinatal, cardiac, and surgical neonatology is desired
- Up-to-date knowledge of neonatal perinatal medicine, including equipment usage in intensive care
- Skills in performing procedures commonly used in neonatal intensive care
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
$180,000 - $220,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900.
