The Mater Mothers' private and public hospitals support over 10,500 births annually, making us a key player in perinatal care. Our Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) is a tertiary referral centre for sick and preterm babies, offering complex cardiac and surgical care services to the Southeast and central Queensland regions and Northern New South Wales.
About the RoleThis advanced clinical specialist role will see you working autonomously and interdependently at an advanced clinical level, utilising evidence-based practice frameworks to manage patients within your caseload. You will be responsible for managing your workload to ensure timely access to patient care.
- Provide expert patient-centred consultancy practices, participating in direct patient care provision across various services.
- Consult, communicate, and provide feedback to Medical Consultants, including General Practitioners, and other healthcare team members involved in patient care.
- Participate in the management and facilitation of periodic review and implementation of clinical processes, quality indicators, and guidelines for the specialty.
- Support and drive succession planning with Nursing/Midwifery Unit Managers and colleagues, promoting the role of nurses in delivering patient care.
- Lead audit and research initiatives, developing interdisciplinary team guidelines and protocols incorporating current evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrate leadership as a role model and expert clinician, providing excellence in patient care through evidence-based practice and professional commitment.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Endorsement/eligibility to obtain endorsement with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Thorough knowledge of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation concepts when planning patient and carer needs.
