About the Role

The City of Boroondara is seeking a highly skilled Infringement Review Officer to join our team. As a vital point of contact between the Council and our customers, you will play a crucial role in providing an independent second look at notices issued to the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Timely and accurate assessments of infringements issued
  • Utilize available data from officers, the Infringements Act, and policies to produce legally sound decisions
  • Provide clear, professional, and polite communication to stakeholders, explaining decisions in a clear and informative manner, and working to short timelines
  • Maintain up-to-date data in Council systems and handle sensitive information
  • Contribute to a team environment and drive continuous improvement
Requirements
  • Ability to interpret legislation and apply it to varying circumstances to reach a decision in line with Council policies
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in an administration and customer service role, including answering telephone enquiries, preparing correspondence, and assessments of infringement reviews
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers in a respectful and professional manner, conveying information, being assertive and resilient where required, and de-escalating conflict situations
  • Ability to set and maintain a high standard of output, knowledge of Microsoft Office, and time management skills
  • Ability to independently manage repetitive tasks and a backlog of work
  • Sound knowledge or ability to gain knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations, and laws relating to infringements
  • Attributes to work in a team and actively participate in events, workshops, and training
  • Appetite for continuous improvement
