Finance Expert

We are seeking a skilled finance expert to join our team in Sydney. As a key member of our finance function, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate tracking and analysis of freight costs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough variance analysis on freight costs and customer trends
  • Building and maintaining visual reports to highlight key trends and provide actionable recommendations for cost control and optimisation
  • Liaising with transporters to ensure accurate payments are made and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Maintaining strong relationships with transport partners to ensure transparency and alignment on financial matters
  • Ensuring accurate reconciliation of freight charges and aligning transport costs with corresponding transport legs
  • Suggesting accruals based on financial trends to ensure proper financial recognition and reporting

You will also be responsible for presenting findings to management through clear and concise written reports and visual presentations, ensuring that key stakeholders are informed of financial trends and variances.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as Commerce or Finance
  • 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or an analytical role
  • Financial modelling experience
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for cost savings or process improvements, particularly within freight or logistics operations
  • Proficiency in data analysis and manipulation using tools like Google Sheets, SQL, or data visualisation software
  • Strong systems learning skills
  • Familiarity with wine or retail industry practices
