Diversity and Inclusion Specialist

The role of a Team Leader within the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team is pivotal in promoting a culture of inclusion and respect. As a key member, you will be instrumental in developing people, managing change, and driving behaviours that foster a supportive work environment.
This position oversees the day-to-day leadership of critical streams of the D&I Strategy implementation and manages the First Nations Unit. You will contribute to the development of strategic recruitment initiatives to achieve workforce representation targets for underrepresented groups.
The Team Leader will also focus on achieving DI education outcomes to enhance organisational cultural competency and capability. This role involves direct interaction with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities and requires a strong commitment to their well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Developing and implementing work programs aligned with AFP strategic priorities;
- Leading the team and supporting their professional growth and development;
- Engaging with key stakeholders to drive progress and collaboration;
- Developing communications strategies to meet AFP DEI targets;
- Driving policy and strategy development such as First Nations Employment Strategy and Inclusion Learning Continuum;
- Providing executive guidance, reporting, briefing, and analysis as required;
- Supporting FNU projects and activities;
- Representing the FNU as required and contributing to its growth and success;
