Job Title: Strategic Liaison Officer

Job Description:

The role of the Strategic Liaison Officer is to engage with Federal and State politicians, senior bureaucrats, and relevant industry associations to advance and protect the interests of the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Business Banking division on public policy and government relations
  • Preparing high-quality briefs on policy issues and meeting briefs for executive meetings with Government representatives
  • Contributing to policy development in areas such as cyber security
  • Coordinating and participating in the monitoring of parliamentary schedule and hearings
  • Maintaining proactive contact with political and policy contacts

The officer will work closely with the leadership team to develop Corporate Affairs strategies and frameworks to build and sustain the organisation's reputation as an industry leader and influence the operating environment in its favour.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • A risk mindset, identifying and understanding current and future risks
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly writing skills
  • Discretion and maturity in dealing with sensitive issues
  • Commercial acumen to discern potential impacts of policy changes
  • A strong understanding of the machinery of government and experience liaising with parliamentary offices

Education:

The ideal candidate will have a tertiary degree in economics, law, political science or other relevant humanities discipline.
