Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Claims Professional to join our team in a dynamic and agile environment.

  • This role involves managing a portfolio of medium to high value claims and complex niche products, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes through prompt communication and thorough investigation.
Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing a portfolio of liability claims in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Analysing first reports to determine the nature of loss, coverage provided, and scope of injury/damage.
  • Conducting investigations into all aspects of reported claims, including potential fraud, and securing and verifying supporting documentation.
  • Establishing accurate and timely reserves.
  • Providing exceptional service standards in line with industry guidelines.
  • Maintaining an active diary to achieve timely development of files and timely disposition of claims.
  • Promptly documenting all developments on claim files.
  • Exercising good judgement in reaching final dispositions of claims by evaluating the nature of loss, liability, injury/damage, coverage provided, and applicable limits.
  • Negotiating compromise settlements where appropriate.
  • Effectively communicating with various stakeholders, including claim departments, customer services, loss control, underwriting departments, finance departments, brokers, insureds, service providers, third parties, and their legal representatives.
  • Recognising and pursuing subrogation opportunities.
  • Adhering to relevant statutory rules and regulations, as well as internal compliance obligations.
  • Effectively controlling the use, work product, and expense of outside vendors.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant tertiary or insurance industry qualification.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in liability claims.
  • Broad knowledge of the insurance industry and claims processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective workflow management skills.
  • A proven ability to work as part of a team.
