Job Description

BHP is looking for a skilled Health Leader to join their team at the Peak Downs Mine. The successful candidate will provide leadership and coaching to health specialists, providing expert advice on health and wellbeing.

This role requires strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively engage and coach at all levels of the organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a large complex environment, ideally within mining or heavy industry.

The Health Leader will be responsible for maintaining strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders, managing health, hygiene and wellbeing risk through effective control ownership, design and performance.

This is an exciting opportunity for a health professional to take on a leadership role and contribute to the success of BHP's Health, Safety, Security and Emergency Management team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a health-related discipline - ideally with APHRA or ESSA registration – OHS, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, human movements, ergonomics, human factors
  • Minimum of five years' experience working in a large complex environment, ideally within mining or heavy industry
  • Effective project management skills (strong verbal and written communication skills) are essential, with the capability to effectively engage and coach at all levels of the organisation
  • Relevant experience in systemic management of Occupational Health and partnering with Occupational Hygiene in a substantial business
  • Working knowledge of both Queensland workers compensation and Queensland mining health and safety legislation is required
