We are seeking a highly skilled Heritage Consultant to join our team.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing fieldwork and office-based tasks, delivering high-quality heritage consultancy services, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct surveys and site recording activities in alignment with our methodologies and approaches.
  • Assist with field logistics to ensure seamless operations.
  • Execute tasks in accordance with our policies, with a focus on work health and safety compliance.
  • Collect and manage data to maintain high levels of quality and accuracy.
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Follow project priorities as directed by the Team Lead, Engagement Manager(s), or Senior Management.
  • Prepare for, attend, or lead project meetings as required.
  • Ensure deliverables are completed to a high standard and delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Adhere to our operational, financial, and administrative processes and procedures.
  • Participate actively in mentoring programs and professional development initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Traditional Owners, proponents, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure informed decision-making and project compliance.
  • Conduct precise and methodical surveys and site recordings in line with our standards.
  • Ensure efficient and safe completion of field tasks.
  • Data Management
  • Collect, store, and manage data accurately and in accordance with organisational protocols.
  • Maintain data integrity to support high-quality project outcomes.
  • Deliver project outputs on time and to a professional standard.
  • Meet or exceed client and stakeholder expectations regarding project documentation and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain respectful and effective relationships with Traditional Owners, proponents, and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate productive collaboration during project planning and execution.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on statutory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve project objectives.
  • Foster a supportive and productive team environment.
  • Actively engage in professional development opportunities.
  • Leverage mentoring frameworks to enhance skills and capabilities.
  • Follow organisational financial, operational, and administrative procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation aligned with our standards.
Requirements:
  • A minimum AQF Bachelor degree (equivalent) or higher with a highly relevant major field of study in Archaeology.
  • At least five years' of relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of Aboriginal Heritage Act and other relevant heritage legislation.
  • Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for site recording and mapping.
  • Experience supporting PBCs, Native Title claims, or joint ventures.
  • Grant writing or community capacity-building experience.
  • First aid certification and remote work awareness.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Planner, SharePoint) and GIS tools.
  • Experience with environmental approvals or multidisciplinary project teams.
