Job Description:
The Heritage Consultant will play a key role in managing fieldwork and office-based tasks, delivering high-quality heritage consultancy services while adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct surveys and site recording activities in alignment with established methodologies and approaches.
- Assist with field logistics to ensure seamless operations.
- Execute tasks in accordance with relevant policies, with a focus on work health and safety compliance.
- Collect and manage data to maintain high levels of quality and accuracy.
- Work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Key Responsibilities:
Field-Based Tasks: Conduct surveys and site recording activities, assist with field logistics, execute tasks in accordance with policies, collect and manage data, work effectively as part of a team.
Office-Based Tasks:
Follow project priorities as directed by the Team Lead, prepare for, attend, or lead project meetings as required, ensure deliverables are completed to a high standard and delivered within agreed timelines, adhere to operational, financial, and administrative processes and procedures, participate actively in mentoring programs and professional development initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Develop and maintain positive relationships with Traditional Owners, proponents, and other stakeholders.
Compliance and Knowledge Development:
Develop a thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure informed decision-making and project compliance, conduct precise and methodical surveys and site recordings in line with established standards, ensure efficient and safe completion of field tasks, maintain data integrity to support high-quality project outcomes, deliver project outputs on time and to a professional standard, meet or exceed client and stakeholder expectations regarding project documentation and outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in heritage management or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Aboriginal Heritage Act and other relevant heritage legislation.
- Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for site recording and mapping.
- Experience supporting PBCs, Native Title claims, or joint ventures.
- Grant writing or community capacity-building experience.
- First aid certification and remote work awareness.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Planner, SharePoint) and GIS tools.
- Experience with environmental approvals or multidisciplinary project teams.
