Job Title: Technical Service Manager

Overview:

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is seeking an experienced Technical Service Manager to lead the technical team and provide expert advice on technical services performed by QBCC building inspectors. The successful candidate will have high-level investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build and maintain networks and relationships to represent and promote QBCC to external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the operation of the technical team to achieve the team's objectives
  • Develop and administer the branch's business plan and budget
  • Ensure staff are provided with appropriate direction, guidance, training, and assistance
  • Maintain effective linkages between the Regulatory Operations Division and other functional areas
  • Establish frameworks to ensure consistent and high-quality technical services across the State
  • Provide best in-kind technical advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Focus on building the technical capability of QBCC through training and development and succession planning
  • Contribute to the leadership of the Regulatory Operations Division
  • Respond to complaints from customers in relation to defective work and insurance claims
  • Mediate and negotiate to resolve matters
  • Cultivate sound working relationships with stakeholders
  • Represent QBCC on industry and government technical committees

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hold qualifications to be eligible or currently hold a Building Licence from QBCC
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a Diploma of Investigations (Government)
  • Hold or be able to complete the Cert IV in Training and Assessment
