A nationally recognised high-voltage design firm delivering complex electrical solutions across Australia is seeking an expert in substation design. With a track record of securing major substation and grid connection projects, they continue to expand across energy, infrastructure, and renewables.

The team collaborates with transmission and distribution clients, government agencies, and major contractors to design and deliver critical HV infrastructure. The experts include senior designers with deep technical knowledge across primary and secondary HV design, protection, earthing, and grid compliance.

We are looking for a Junior to Intermediate-level HV Designer who has experience in substation design. The ideal candidate will have worked in an engineering consultancy environment, supporting senior designers on HV projects ranging from 66kV to 500kV. Projects include new substations, upgrades to existing sites, and renewable energy connections.

You'll bring:

  • 1 to 5 years of experience in HV electrical design within a consultancy, utility, or EPC contractor environment
  • Exposure to primary substation design including layout, HV equipment specification, earthing, and busbar arrangements
  • Experience producing technical drawings, schematics, and engineering reports
  • Familiarity with Australian standards, utility requirements, and network connection processes
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar

Experience working on renewable energy projects such as wind, solar, or battery storage is a plus but not essential. What matters most is a solid foundation in substation design and a proactive mindset to keep developing your expertise.
