Job Description

SAHMRI is seeking an experienced Epidemiologist to lead the epidemiological and statistical data analysis for a national research project focused on Healthy Ageing.

About the Role

This fixed-term contract position will be integral in generating high-quality evidence to inform recommendations that improve the standard of care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in aged care facilities or the community.

The successful candidate will possess a PhD in Epidemiology, Statistics, Data Science, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience contributing to research projects relating to the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct high-quality research with a focus on health, health services, and aged care services for older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  2. Contribute to collaborative research between SAHMRI and the Registry of Senior Australians (ROSA), focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals in aged care settings.
  3. Support and embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander governance in the research.
Requirements
  • Proficiency working with SAS, R, or Stata (at least one statistical software package) and with large population-based datasets independently.
  • Knowledge of systems and processes to support the collation and management of high-quality data and accuracy in research.
  • Understanding of Australian and Indigenous specific ethical requirements and processes of human research.
Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional development and collaboration with leading researchers in the field.

  • Some travel may be required, including interstate and intrastate travel to urban, regional, or remote parts of South Australia.
