The Murray-Darling Basin water management landscape is complex and ever-evolving.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the effective implementation of water accounting projects within this context. The Project Officer, SDL Accounting will play a pivotal part in supporting initiatives that promote efficient water resource utilization and sustainable management practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and implementation of water accounting amendments and enhancements;
  • Maintain and update water data reporting tools and systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency;
  • Analyse and interpret water data to inform decision-making and develop insightful reports for stakeholders;
  • Develop and refine internal documentation, such as policies and procedures, to facilitate best practice adoption;
  • Provide evidence-based technical advice on water accounting and/or water resource management to support informed decision-making;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver policy projects related to the implementation or review of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

About the Role:

  • Strong background in water accounting and/or water resource management;
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to distill complex information into actionable insights;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse stakeholder groups;
  • Proficiency in using software applications, including Microsoft Office and data analysis tools, to drive productivity and efficiency.
