About the Role
  • We are seeking a highly motivated individual to support the Blak and Proud research study, a groundbreaking initiative that aims to improve healthcare outcomes for LGBTQIASB+ individuals.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to develop resources, coordinate training, and implement changes within our organisation.

This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Strong knowledge of cultural, social, and economic issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is essential.

Duties
  1. Develop and implement community engagement strategies to promote the research study and its findings.
  2. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  3. Support the governance structures in place for the project, including the development and documentation of new practice models and accreditation standards.
  4. Contribute to the development of proper communication strategies internally and externally related to the new model of care.
  5. Assist in the implementation of a communication and marketing strategy for the accreditation of the BLAK PRIDE certification program.

Requirements
  • A certificate or diploma in a relevant field, such as health, administration, or services.
  • Proven experience in supporting the rollout of programs or projects.
  • Strong understanding of cultural, social, and economic issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet project milestones, arrange meetings, workshops & interviews (participants), document minutes and actions, follow up with stakeholders, arrange training.
  • Deep knowledge of the cultural, social, and economic factors affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly for those who identify as LGBTQIASB+.
  • Strong understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community health service sector, including primary health clinic operations and systems.
  • Appreciation of the principles of research working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, including self-determination and community control.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience working in a community-controlled organisation.
