Futures Systems Leader

A leader for the future, you will spearhead a high-performing team to drive innovation and change in Australia's energy sector.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a team of experts who are shaping the future of power systems. As a Futures Systems Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of future power system study elements, analysing emerging phenomena and technology capabilities, and prioritising approaches to resolve pressing technical issues.

You will lead the specification of technical requirements and capability from emerging technologies, including grid forming inverters, and deliver planning studies in collaboration with AEMO’s System Security Planning team and Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a high-performing team to drive innovation and change in the energy sector
  • Oversee the development of future power system study elements
  • Analyse emerging phenomena and technology capabilities
  • Prioritise approaches to resolve pressing technical issues
  • Lead the specification of technical requirements and capability from emerging technologies
  • Deliver planning studies in collaboration with AEMO’s System Security Planning team and TNSPs
Requirements
  • Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, such as engineering
  • Deep expertise in the operation and planning of large power systems and the engineering challenges as the NEM transitions
  • Experience building and managing teams in complex technical environments
  • Strong analytical skills to review and critique modelled outcomes for stakeholder messaging
  • Strong verbal and written communication and editorial skills
  • Ability to drive innovation and change, work strategically in ambiguity, and deliver outcomes under resistance
