About the Opportunity

BAE Systems Australia is seeking a qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Structures) to join the Hawk Lead in Fighter team based at RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW, reporting to the team lead on a 4-day work week.

If you have either recently completed a Certificate IV in Aeroskills – Structures apprenticeship or have extensive experience in the Defence and/or Commercial Aircraft maintenance as a qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Structures, we want to talk with you.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform production, maintenance, and repair of sheet metal, bonded, and non-metallic composite materials and components on aircraft.
  2. Work in an aviation environment at a standard to meet all regulatory and airworthiness requirements.
  3. Be responsible to the Team Leader to carry out scheduled servicing and other unscheduled maintenance.
  4. Ensure maintenance and technical documentation or data used during maintenance is authorized for use and is compliant.
  5. Correctly and promptly record details of work performed on the correct documents, and if required, to gain certification of the performance of such work in the required timeframes.
  6. Ensure that all appropriate documentation for engineering advice, defect reporting, maintenance deficiencies, and publication amendments are incorporated as directed.
  7. Report to the Team Leader all defects, deficiencies, maintenance errors, and unserviceabilities as they arise.
  8. Carry out maintenance only to the delegated and authorized level.
  9. Initiate quality, non-conformance, or defect reporting relating to maintenance tasks as directed.
About You
  1. Certificate IV in Aeroskills – Structures, or equivalent, is mandatory.
  2. Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain a Federal Government Security Clearance is mandatory.
  3. Experience or a strong interest in working with Defence Aircraft is mandatory.
  4. Military or Civil Aviation Maintenance Licence is highly desirable.
  5. An understanding of Australian Defence Force aircraft maintenance regulations, processes, and procedures is highly desirable.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  7. The ability to work within a fast-paced and strong team environment is essential.
