Job Overview
A Project Control Specialist is required to oversee all project financial transactions, including job cost management and budget maintenance. This individual will be responsible for preparing monthly payment requests, coordinating subcontract change orders, payments, and schedule evaluation.
- Reviews owner's contracts to ensure compliance with all terms and requirements.
- Organizes and maintains budget information in the project accounting system.
- Reviews and enters purchase order and subcontract agreements; manages subcontractor payment distributions.
- Develops and tracks detailed procurement and construction resource-loaded schedules in Primavera P6; supports management through preparation, updating, and maintenance of forecasts and identification of schedule and performance variances using earned value methodology.
- Analyzes job cost and identifies problems; compiles and issues project performance reports.
- Leads the billing process, including regular cash flow maintenance; identifies over/under billing situations.
- Compiles and maintains change order documentation; assists in presentation to customers.
- Reviews and tracks waivers, affidavits, and collections; maintains bond information request forms.
- Utilizes analytical systems, methods, and tools to monitor the project and complete weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Participates in project review meetings; assists in job closeout process.
- Provides audit assistance.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in project controls and administration.
- Problem-solving skills, including identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Discretion when handling confidential information.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Effective written and oral communication.
- Ability to read and interpret information, present numerical data, and gather and analyze information.
- Prioritization and planning of work activities.
- Organization, accuracy, and thoroughness.
- Dependability and ability to follow instructions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Viewpoint and Primavera P6 software.
Key Qualifications
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and familiar with project management software such as Viewpoint and Primavera P6.
