
Aboriginal Community Liaison Specialist

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria is seeking a dedicated and community-focused professional to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people engaging with the court system. This role plays a vital part in improving the court experience and outcomes for Koori individuals and their families.
">As a key member of our team, you will work closely with Elders, community leaders, and justice professionals to provide culturally appropriate justice for Aboriginal communities. You will assist in raising awareness within the court system of cross-cultural issues, maintain and foster links between the Magistrates' Court, the Children's Court and the Aboriginal community, and liaise with the Aboriginal community to inform of court processes.
">We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of cultural issues and the unique challenges faced by Koori communities. If you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to plan and manage community engagement projects effectively, and a current driver's license, we encourage you to apply.
">About the Role">This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of Aboriginal people and communities. You will be working closely with colleagues to develop and implement initiatives that improve the court experience for Koori people and their families.
">In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting and advising the court on matters relating to cultural issues that exist for Koori people in Victoria
- Providing advice and access to services for Koori offenders and families that encounter the court
- Raising awareness within the court system of cross-cultural issues
- Maintaining and fostering links between the Magistrates' Court, the Children's Court and the Aboriginal community
- Liaising with the Aboriginal community to inform of court processes including Koori Court
