The Speech Pathology Department serving Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast, and Mount Morgan is a vibrant group dedicated to providing exceptional, safe, and equitable healthcare. Our mission is to prevent, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders, ultimately improving the health of individuals in Central Queensland.

Our comprehensive services cater to patients of all ages, including:

  1. Inpatient services: acute, hyper-acute, and sub-acute care for both adults and children.
  2. Outpatient and community services: addressing communication and swallowing needs for all ages, including complex infant feeding, multidisciplinary pediatric diagnostics, oncology, ENT, laryngectomy, and voice clinics.
  3. Instrumental evaluations: including VFSS, FEES, and EEV.
  4. Outreach and telehealth services: extending care to rural and regional areas as well as patient homes.

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists to provide advanced speech pathology services and clinical leadership, ensuring top-notch care for adult and/or pediatric clients in Central Queensland, both in clinical settings and within the community.

This role entails:

  1. Delivering expert clinical speech pathology services for individuals with communication and swallowing disorders in various settings.
  2. Providing clinical and professional mentorship and leadership to fellow speech pathologists, students, and multidisciplinary team members.
  3. Driving the advancement of speech pathology services across CQHHS through service development, quality enhancement, and clinical education and research initiatives.

About You:

  1. Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements: The ideal candidate must hold a tertiary degree in Speech Pathology and demonstrate eligibility for practicing membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
  2. Desirable Qualifications/Requirements: While not mandatory, it is advantageous for candidates to have experience in the following areas:
    1. Providing speech pathology care to adults in hospital settings
    2. Care for laryngectomy patients and voice prosthesis
    3. Competency in inpatient and community tracheostomy
    4. Voice assessment and therapeutic interventions
    5. Competency in videofluoroscopy (VFSS) swallow studies
    6. Competency in flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES)

Salary Information:

The total remuneration package can reach up to $12,731 per month, which includes:

  1. An hourly wage ranging from $67.53 per hour.
  2. A 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
  3. 17.5% leave loading.
