About the Organization:

The Speech Pathology Department serving the Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast, and Mount Morgan areas is a vibrant team dedicated to providing exceptional, safe, and equitable healthcare. Our mission is to prevent, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders, ultimately improving the health outcomes for the residents of Central Queensland.

We offer a comprehensive range of services across various patient demographics, including:

  1. Inpatient services: catering to both adult and pediatric acute, hyper-acute, and sub-acute needs.
  2. Outpatient and community services: focusing on communication and swallowing therapies for all ages, complex infant feeding, multidisciplinary pediatric diagnostics, oncology, ENT, laryngectomy, and voice assessments.
  3. Instrumental evaluations: including Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS), Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), and Endoscopic Evaluation of Voice (EEV).
  4. Outreach and telehealth services: extending our reach to rural and regional locations as well as patient residences.

Role Overview:

This position presents an exciting opportunity to provide advanced speech pathology services and clinical leadership, ensuring top-tier care for both adult and pediatric clients within Central Queensland, in both hospital and community settings.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  1. Delivering expert clinical speech pathology services for individuals with communication and swallowing challenges, in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
  2. Providing clinical and professional guidance and leadership to fellow speech pathologists, students, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
  3. Driving the advancement of speech pathology services throughout the organization by spearheading service development, quality enhancement, and clinical education and research initiatives.

Candidate Profile:

  1. Essential Qualifications: The ideal candidate must hold a tertiary degree in Speech Pathology and demonstrate eligibility for practicing membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
  2. Desirable Qualifications: While not mandatory, it is advantageous for candidates to possess skills and experience in the following areas:
    1. Providing speech pathology services to adults in a hospital setting
    2. Care for laryngectomy patients and voice prosthesis management
    3. Competency in managing tracheostomy patients in both inpatient and community settings
    4. Assessment and treatment of voice disorders
    5. Competency in conducting Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS)
    6. Competency in Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Details:

The total remuneration package can reach up to $12,731 per month, which includes:

  1. An hourly wage ranging from $67.53 per hour.
  2. A 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
  3. 17.5% leave loading.
