About Us:
The Speech Pathology Department serving Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast, and Mount Morgan is a vibrant team dedicated to providing exceptional, safe, and equitable healthcare. Our primary focus is on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders to improve the health outcomes of individuals in Central Queensland.
We offer a comprehensive range of services for patients throughout their lives, including:
- Inpatient services: catering to both adult and pediatric acute, hyper-acute, and sub-acute needs.
- Outpatient and community services: providing communication and swallowing interventions for both adults and children, complex infant feeding support, multidisciplinary pediatric diagnostics, oncology, ENT, laryngectomy, and voice clinics.
- Instrumental assessments: utilizing VFSS, FEES, and EEV techniques.
- Outreach and telehealth services: extending care to rural and regional locations as well as patient residences.
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity exists to provide advanced speech pathology services and clinical leadership, ensuring high-quality care for adult and/or pediatric clients in Central Queensland, both in hospital settings and within the community.
This role will entail:
- Delivering expert clinical speech pathology services for individuals with communication and swallowing disorders in both hospital and community environments.
- Providing clinical and professional guidance and leadership to speech pathologists, students, and members of multidisciplinary teams.
- Leading initiatives to enhance speech pathology services across CQHHS by driving service development, quality improvement, and clinical education and research efforts.
About You:
- Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements: The ideal candidate must hold a tertiary degree in Speech Pathology and demonstrate eligibility for practicing membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
- Desirable Qualifications/Requirements: While not mandatory, it is advantageous for the successful candidate to have experience and skills in the following areas:
- Providing speech pathology care to adults in hospital settings
- Managing laryngectomy and voice prosthesis care
- Competency in inpatient and community tracheostomy care
- Conducting voice assessments and treatments
- Competency in videofluoroscopy (VFSS) swallow studies
- Competency in flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES)

Salary Information:
The total remuneration package can reach up to $12,731 per month, which includes:
- An hourly rate starting at $67.53.
- A 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
