About the Role

Hawthorn-Melbourne has been a leading provider of English language courses for international students for nearly four decades. Our comprehensive range of programs caters to diverse student objectives, including General English, Academic English, IELTS Preparation, and English for High School. We also offer a direct entry program to the University of Melbourne, UMELBP, providing students with a seamless pathway to higher education.

As a member of our teaching team, you will work in a collaborative and supportive environment at our state-of-the-art campus. Classes are conducted face-to-face for 4 hours a day, allowing for additional time to focus on preparation, marking, and professional development. Teachers typically work between 2 and 5 days a week, depending on their preferences and the needs of the school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality English language instruction to international students
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive classroom environment
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills
Requirements
  • Minimum of a first degree and a recognized TESOL teaching qualification, such as CELTA
  • Relevant EFL/ESL teaching experience in Australia or overseas
  • Ability to demonstrate effective class management, knowledge of current TESOL theory, and student engagement strategies
  • Strong administrative skills, including attendance monitoring, assessment standardization, and course record-keeping
  • Professionalism, including teamwork, collegiality, and high standards of conduct
  • Current Working with Children Check
Desirable Skills and Qualities
  • Experience teaching a wide range of ESL courses
  • Postgraduate qualifications in TESOL, such as DELTA, MTESOL
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms, including Zoom and Moodle
  • Strong MS Office competencies, including Outlook and SharePoint
