Job Title: Program Director - Rowing and Pedal Prix

The Program Director for Rowing and Pedal Prix is a key role in the school community, responsible for coordinating and overseeing both programs. This position requires a strong commitment to developing and maintaining high-quality rowing and pedal prix programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend and actively contribute to the Rowing Parent Committee meetings.
  • Work closely with staff to ensure effective implementation and maintenance of school policies and procedures.
  • Act as an ambassador for sport at Walford, promoting the program and building its profile within and beyond the school community.
  • Set a positive tone for behavior among participants, encouraging good sportsmanship and teamwork.
Leadership Skills:
  • Lead the growth of a vibrant rowing community that aligns with the school's strategy and builds on existing culture.
  • Support students, staff, parents, and coaches in continually improving their skills and reaching their full potential.
  • Establish a professional reputation within the school and broader South Australian rowing and pedal prix communities.
Athlete Management:
  • Oversee all aspects of rowing crew and pedal prix team selections, including criteria for seat allocations.
  • Attend training sessions and competitions, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Manage the induction, development, selection, motivation, and appraisal of participants in the programs.
Coach Management:
  • Recruit, select, manage, and support coaching staff involved in the rowing and pedal prix programs.
  • Collaborate regularly with rowing coaches to ensure they are informed about boatshed protocols and opportunities for ongoing professional learning.
Equipment Management:
  • Ensure the maintenance of rowing boats and equipment, adhering to relevant safety standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance of pedal prix vehicles, ensuring bikes meet Australian design and construction specifications and AIPP scrutineering standards.
Organizational Skills:
  • Prepare and administer budgets and student levies for the rowing and pedal prix programs.
  • Create a season calendar of events, camps, interstate trips, and regattas for the programs.
