The role of Technical Specialist in the Space Weather Network (SWN) Team is integral to ensuring the team meets its program objectives.
This position involves acting as a liaison with stakeholder groups on technical aspects of the observing network, reviewing and contributing to working documentation, preparing and delivering reports, and providing technical expertise on business development opportunities in line with the Bureau's strategy.
The SWN team sits within the Data & Digital Group and is primarily responsible for providing operational support to a broad range of specialist infrastructure at several sites across Australia and its Territories.
Observations are combined with data from satellites and other sources to monitor space weather and provide national services and advice on space weather conditions.
As a Technical Officer, you will undertake moderate to very complex operational and network support tasks while working under the general guidance of the Manager, SWN.
These tasks include coordinating resources for maintenance, inspections, and return to service of sophisticated technologies, advanced system diagnostics, fault finding, technical administration, facilitating knowledge sharing, and providing support to teams working in remote environments to encourage a network-wide consistent approach to practices and systems.
