About the Role

The Housing Officer position is a part-time opportunity that involves providing day-to-day support services for tenancies and properties. This role reports to the Manager, Housing Plus and requires effective management of records, data entry, and other housing-related activities.

This dynamic role has no two days the same and involves working with tenancies within the Community Housing portfolio, inclusive of homelessness services. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining all units in a cost-effective, safe, and habitable condition to support excellence in service delivery for residents.

The key responsibilities of this role include coordinating maintenance requests, supporting scheduled and long-term maintenance programs, and managing rent and other receivables for the units in the portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have relevant qualification or equivalent experience working within the community housing sector and/or tenancy management services. They should also possess strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as proficiency in property management databases such as Zavanti and SHIP.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with people with complex needs, including mental health, disability, homelessness, substance use, and financial disadvantage. The successful candidate will be expected to implement Licence to Occupy agreements and other relevant legislative requirements, sector guidelines, and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining all units in a cost-effective, safe, and habitable condition
  • Coordinating maintenance requests and supporting maintenance programs
  • Managing rent and other receivables for the units in the portfolio
  • Implementing Licence to Occupy agreements and other legislative requirements

About You

To succeed in this role, you must be driven by service excellence and a sense of working for the greater good. You should take a hands-on approach to your work, with a strong focus on customer service.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of social and community housing principles and experience dealing with complex and challenging property management and tenancy issues. They should also be able to enact values consistent with Low Barrier Model and trauma-informed care approaches.
