About the Role

In this position, you will be at the forefront of creating and interpreting detailed engineering drawings, design specifications, and technical documentation. Your work will play a critical role in ensuring that complex technical information is communicated clearly, accurately, and efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related field and will be capable of assessing technical drawings to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Design
    • Create, modify, and review detailed mechanical drawings and designs using CAD software.
    • Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders to develop design solutions that meet project specifications and objectives.
  • Technical Writing
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, operating instructions, maintenance guides, and safety protocols.
    • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documents.
    • Ensure all technical content is accurate, up-to-date, and consistent with the latest project developments.
  • Risk Assessment
    • Conduct thorough reviews of technical drawings and designs to identify potential risks.
    • Perform technical risk assessments to evaluate the safety, reliability, and performance of mechanical systems and components.
    • Recommend design modifications or mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
    • Document and report on risk assessment findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, and quality assurance personnel, to ensure alignment on technical requirements and documentation standards.
    • Participate in design reviews, providing feedback and suggestions based on risk assessment and technical analysis.
    • Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices in mechanical design and technical writing.
    • Proactively seek opportunities to improve the quality and efficiency of technical documentation and risk assessment processes.
About You
  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other design tools.
  • Strong technical writing skills with experience in creating technical documentation.
  • Experience in conducting technical risk assessments and developing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex technical drawings and designs.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to mechanical design.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the engineering or manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with project management tools and techniques.
