About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Communications Officer to join our team at Unions NSW. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing effective communications strategies to engage with our members and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Communications Strategies

Develop and implement communications strategies to engage with our members and the wider community, including the development of content for our website, social media channels, and other communications materials.

Content Creation

Create high-quality content for our website, social media channels, and other communications materials, including articles, blog posts, social media posts, and other content types.

Media and Public Relations

Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and other stakeholders to promote the work of Unions NSW and our members.

Event Planning and Coordination

Plan and coordinate events, including rallies, protests, and other activities, to promote the work of Unions NSW and our members.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with our team to develop and implement communications strategies and to provide support and guidance on communications-related matters.

Requirements
  • Relevant Qualifications

A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, media, or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent relevant industry experience.

Excellent Communication Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to write and edit compelling and concise content, articles, social media content, and other forms of communication.

Experience with Social Media

Experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.

Project Management

Demonstrated ability to project manage and prioritize tasks, with a focus on delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.

Design and Creative Skills

Relevant qualification and/or experience in design and creative skills, including Canva or Adobe.
