Job Title: Behaviour Support Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in providing high-quality support services to participants living in the Wollongong / Shellharbour / Nowra areas, along with the Sutherland Shire and lower St George area of Sydney.

The successful candidate will have current suitability at the Advanced or Specialist level - as confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission - and will be responsible for assisting NDIS participants, their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning.

Evaluating, developing and delivering evidence-based support plans within a complex support space is also a key responsibility of this role. Additionally, the Behaviour Support Practitioner will develop meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising a positive behaviour support framework, and with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Current suitability - confirmed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission - at the Advanced or Specialist level as a Behaviour Support Practitioner;
  • Completed a degree-level qualification as an allied health professional;
  • Report writing experience;
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload;
  • Proactive attitude, motivated by improvement and the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas;
  • Genuine passion for working in the disability sector.

Responsibilities will include building the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support participants in their lives - family, carers, friends, etc. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including mentoring less experienced Behaviour Support Practitioners, is also an essential aspect of this role.

Acting as an advocate and role model for best practice is crucial in ensuring that we deliver exceptional customer service to our NDIS participants.
