Job Overview

The Senior Geology Expert will play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of underground excavation projects. As part of a Design Joint Venture (DJV), this expert will be responsible for leading and mentoring junior geologists in surface and sub-surface ground investigations, excavation, tunnel face and shaft geological assessments, and support of D&B and TBM tunnels/adits.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Geological Mapping and Assessment: Conduct thorough geological mapping and assessment of tunnels, shafts, caverns, and cut slopes to ensure accurate geotechnical information for design purposes.
  • Ground Investigation and Data Interpretation: Oversee and conduct ground investigation programs, including borehole drilling and sampling, logging, and data interpretation to inform excavation strategies.
  • Tunnel Support and Excavation: Advise on tunnel support methods, rock/soil support, fissure/consolidation/backfill/cavity grouting, probe drilling, overbreak's treatment, geotechnical instrumentation, and monitoring systems.
  • Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring: Install, maintain, and interpret geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring systems to ensure the stability and safety of underground excavations.
  • Data Management and Reporting: Manage and analyze geotechnical data, prepare reports, and provide recommendations to stakeholders on excavation strategies and risks.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in ground investigation, D&B/TBM tunnel excavation, and support, caverns, shafts, adits, and surface excavation and support.
  • A degree in Engineering Geology or equivalent, with professional registration status preferred.
  • Familiarity with advanced tunnel/underground geological software and systems, such as Leapfrog, gINT, Shape Matrix, Dips, Swedge/Unwedge, etc.
