Job Overview

The role of a Senior Geology Specialist involves providing expertise in geological mapping, assessing ground conditions, and recording excavation data.

You will play a key part in the execution phase of the Snowy 2.0 project, working at the Cooma office or on-site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review geology reports, sections, and other documentation for design purposes.
  • Liaise with tunnel inspectors, security guards, section engineers, and surveyors to ensure safe geology field works and geological mapping.
  • Attend regular meetings as requested by management or Lead Resident Design Engineer.
  • Oversee geological mapping, assess ground conditions, and record-keep for surface and underground excavation and support works.
  • Review geological mapping, instrumentation documents, testing results, and advise on excavation methods, rock/soil support, grouting, probe drilling, and overbreak treatment.
  • Provide responses to RFIs regarding clarification on geology and geotechnical information.
Requirements
  • At least 20 years of experience in ground investigation, D&B/TBM tunnel excavation and support, caverns, shafts, adits, and surface excavation and support.
  • Degree in Engineering Geology or equivalent, with professional registration status.
  • Familiarity with tunnelling observational methods, advanced tunnel/underground geological software, and system.
  • Valid driving license.
