
Rare Cancers Specialist Project Manager

This is an exciting long-term opportunity for an experienced development lead with strong leadership and project management expertise, along with a deep understanding of cancer care.
The Development Lead will play a pivotal role in the development of nationally recognised Optimal Care Paths (OCPs) including governance, literature review, stakeholder engagement and consultation, ensuring alignment with priorities and approach outlined by Cancer Australia and the Australian Cancer Plan.
- Lead the end-to-end development of OCPs, Quick Reference Guides and Consumer Guides.
- Establish, support and guide Expert Working Groups to define standards and milestones for the pathway, addressing all stages of the cancer care continuum and contributing multidisciplinary perspectives.
- Develop and manage program plans, including milestones and budget.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to keep the program on track.
- Manage OCP contracts and program reporting requirements, maintaining a strong and collaborative relationship with stakeholders.
We are looking for a proactive, strategic thinker who is passionate about improving outcomes for people with rare and less common cancers. You will have excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills and feel comfortable leading work, taking others with you, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
About the RoleThis is a highly demanding yet rewarding position that requires:
- Extensive experience in managing complex projects or programs within healthcare, government, or health system improvement.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clinicians, healthcare providers, patient organisations and patient advocates.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management, including the development and implementation of project plans, budgets, and timelines.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to clearly synthesise and present evidence, consultation responses and insights.

Key ResponsibilitiesThis role requires:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, including clinicians, healthcare providers, patient organisations and patient advocates.
- Designing and delivering public consultation and using a range of communication and engagement techniques to ensure diverse and representative contributions to the OCP.
- Overseeing the delivery of a literature review and conducting research and analysis.
- Clearly synthesising and presenting evidence, consultation responses and insights.
- Effectively communicating the program's aims, progress and outputs with a range of audiences.
