Rare Cancer Patient Support Specialist

This role requires a compassionate and empathetic individual to provide personalized support and guidance to individuals navigating the complexities of rare cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of individual needs, preferences, and challenges to develop tailored care plans and strategies.
  • Providing information and education on rare cancers, including treatment options, clinical trials, supportive care services, and financial assistance programs.
  • Serving as a primary point of contact for individuals diagnosed with rare cancers and their families, offering emotional support, practical guidance, and resources throughout their cancer journey.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, conveying empathy and respect in all interactions. They must have relevant experience, skills, knowledge of the healthcare industry, and required qualifications/certificates.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications or significant experience in one or more of the following areas: nursing, social work, counseling, primary/community health development, health promotion and project management, social sciences and medicine.
  • Clinical experience in oncology or rare diseases is also preferred.
