
Housing Support Specialist

This role is an integral part of a team working to create a nurturing atmosphere of home and family, where all are welcome.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Collaborate with colleagues in the development and delivery of personalized support plans for residents.
- Foster strong, trusting relationships with residents through empathetic communication and active listening.
- Perform wellness checks and participate in the setup and maintenance of shelter facilities upon arrival and departure.
- Ensure the timely distribution of essential supplies, including harm reduction materials, personal hygiene products, cleaning essentials, meals, and other necessities, to residents.
- Assist residents with daily tasks, such as room cleaning and organization, as well as assisting with referrals and applications for income assistance, housing supports, and other relevant services.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of intervention plans, report on clients' progress, and discuss related concerns with supervisors.
- Gather relevant information about clients' problems, needs, and risks through interviews, observations, meetings with other service providers, and the use of assessments and questionnaires.
- Develop and conduct basic individual counseling sessions using techniques such as active listening, conflict resolution, and psycho-educational methods.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date files for assigned residents and provide regular reports to supervisors as required.
- Degree or diploma in a related human or social service field.
- A minimum of one year recent experience in a related field.
