The Veteran Housing and Support Officer position is a pivotal role in serving military veterans and their families.

About the Role

As the initial point of contact, you will provide support services to address homelessness and housing instability for veterans and their families. Your key responsibilities include:

  1. Coordinating intake, assessment, and support services for veterans and their families.
  2. Establishing strong relationships with veterans, service providers, external organizations, and internal teams to facilitate smooth referrals.
  3. Managing the housing waitlist and determining eligibility for housing and services.
  4. Implementing prevention and early intervention programs.
  5. Maintaining accurate records in the CRM system.

To excel in this role, you must be empathetic, have excellent communication skills, and thrive in a dynamic environment.

You will also possess:

  • Qualifications or experience in community/social housing, with a deep understanding of homelessness, social/affordable housing, and working with clients facing complex needs.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and manage challenging behaviors.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present data clearly.
  • A thorough understanding of relevant legislation and regulations, with a commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, work under pressure, and collaborate effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Current Victorian Driver's Licence
  • Willingness to undergo a National Police Check and Working with Children Check (Vic) and provide proof of rights to work in Australia.
